Megh Jal: A Refreshing Story of Young Entrepreneurship

“I got a chance to become a little entrepreneur, and it was such a fun and exciting experience! During my summer vacation, I watched a YouTube video and experimented with making lemonade at home. Surprisingly, it turned out really tasty, and that small success gave me a huge confidence boost. Whenever I felt thirsty after playing or coming back from outdoor activities, I used to make lemonade and enjoy it.

Every day during summer vacation, my friend Meghdatt and I played together, and I often made lemonade for both of us. One day while playing, a random but super cool idea struck us — what if we started our own lemonade stall? At first, our moms did not take us very seriously, but we did not give up. We kept brainstorming and discussing ideas like sustainability, freshness, organic ingredients, homemade goodness, reuse, and many more. Slowly, our small thoughts started becoming a big dream.

We then thought of a brand name and came up with “Megh Jal”, which is a combination of our names — Meghdatt + Jvalin. Since packaging attracts customers, we decided to use glass bottles because they are reusable and sustainable. We also introduced two flavors that we personally loved — Mint Lemonade and Jeera Lemonade.

Our first stall was at Saturday Morning Kamatibaug Gate No. 3 at 8:00 AM. Many people appreciated our concept and encouraged us. We felt super happy and motivated. Our second stall was at Alkapuri Road at 9:30 PM, where we met a different set of customers and learned how different people have different approaches and preferences. Our third stall was on Sunday morning at Kamatibaug Gate No. 2 at 7:30 AM, where many joggers visited us. It was a fruitful morning filled with appreciation, motivation, and positivity.

This activity taught us so many things beyond just selling lemonade. We learned that while talking to customers, our approach should be clear and confident. We also learned basic marketing skills, management skills, teamwork, communication, handling money, and finance. Most importantly, we learned that even a small idea can become something meaningful if we believe in it and work on it.

This journey became extra special because our parents trusted us and supported us throughout the activity. It truly felt like a real startup adventure, and I learned that age does not matter when you have ideas, confidence, and never give up energy!
