Family Picnic

Last Sunday, my family and I took a much-needed break and we went for a family picnic at Prakriti picnic spot on Basanti Highway. My mother and aunt packed sandwiches, chips, oranges, a checkered blanket and a basket. My uncle packed a cricket set and badminton rackets with a shuttlecock. My father drove the car down a dusty country road. We played antakshari on the way to the picnic spot. The picnic spot had a grassy meadow with a park.

My cousin, Pulu and I ate a few sandwiches and then went to play in the park. Suddenly, I heard a whimper coming from a bush nearby. Pulu and I ran to the bush to discover an injured puppy. Our parents rescued the puppy and gave it first-aid. My mother noticed the collar around the puppy’s neck and said “it must be someone’s pet.”

My aunt rushed to the security and informed them about the injured puppy. The security guard smiled and said “it’s Billu, my daughter Mina’s pet. Mina came running and said “it’s Billu!” Billu was happy to see Mina and wagged his tail.

Later, we handed over Billu to Mina.

We became friends with both Billu and Mina. It was truly a memorable and perfect picnic.
