‘What Will I Be When I Grow Up’ Poem by 11 year old Bookosmian from Noida

The question of what should I be,
makes me cry indeed.

So I ask this question to the 21st century.

This competition of ‘occupation’,
Increases my hesitation,
And makes me squiggle with anticipation.

When I ask myself about an occupation
that can make me successful,
I feel like I can think of a hundred
but none that seem to fulfill.

I don’t want to be a doctor
nor am I interested in being at home.

The older generation..perhaps were selfish
They chose an occupation that only they could relish.

I want to explore the world,
but not be a pilot.

I want to color the world,
but not be a painter.

I want to be the creator,
but not be the world.

What will I be when I grow up?

Here is my will which is still unsought.
