Essay: A Day In The Rough Ocean

I lazed back and enjoyed the feeling of wind rustling through my hair while I  was relaxing on the balcony of my room over the ocean. I brought my  Cappuccino to my lips, ahh, nice and strong, just the way I like it. It left a  bittersweet taste in my mouth.

The sky had turned from a bright-light blue to a menacing grey. The ocean had  an odd unrest with waves crashing down on the beach with ferocity of a lion.  The waters had turned from crystal clear to a metallic grey. That is when I saw it.

A tiny fishing boat was being tossed by the merciless waves. The people on  board were going to die. I tried to scream but no sound came out, as my eyes  remained glued to the terrifying scene that was unfolding before me. Another  wave slapped against the wooden frame of the boat. Above, dark clouds circled the boat like eagles stalking their prey. Then it started to rain. It started off as a light drizzle, having no effect on the battle that was ensuing between man and nature. Soon, however, it was raining heavily, I could barely pick out  the small boat as it was being swallowed by the hungry waves countless times.

“Dinner”, my mom called from inside, “Now or no phone for a week.” Having no option, I sulked into the room, gave one final glance at the gigantic wave that  was crashing down on the boat, and I closed the door behind me and I let the  curtains fall back.
